About The Captain And Tennille

One of the 1970s’ best-known soft-rock acts, the married duo of “Captain” Daryl Dragon and Toni Tennille reveled in smooth sounds and wide-eyed proclamations of love.

Dragon and Tennille met in 1971, when Dragon played keyboards for a Los Angeles production of a Tennille-composed musical revue; after the show closed, Dragon joined the Beach Boys’ touring band and recommended adding Tennille.

The two struck up a romantic relationship and creative partnership while on the road, self-releasing the first Captain & Tennille single, “The Way I Want To Touch You,” in 1973.
