David Lee Roth

Hard rock’s most flamboyant showman, David Lee Roth combined Broadway moxie and Sunset Strip energy to help rocket Van Halen to the top of the rock world in the ’70s and beyond.

Born in Bloomington, IN, in 1954, Roth met Alex and Eddie Van Halen while enrolled at Pasadena City College, and the three formed the band that would become Van Halen in 1972.

Their 1978 self-titled debut was an instant smash; over the next seven years they toured the world and scored hits on the pop and rock charts.
